Darren Thompson (Scenic Designer, Scenic Artist, Lighting Designer, Technical Director) has worked at the St. Louis Community College at Meramec Theatre Department since 1988.  His show credits include scenic and lighting designs for Assassins, Closet Land, The Tempest, and The Rocky Horror Show.   His designs for The Illuminati, Tartuffe, Machinal, and Closet Land were taken to the regional American College Theatre Festival, with Machinal going on to be produced at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.  He was very honored to be chosen as the national recipient for the Kennedy Center Faculty Summer Fellowship in Scenic Design in 2005, and most recently was the KCACTF National Teaching Artist Grant Recipient in Lighting Design in 2010.  Outside of the theatre, he spends most of his time raising quadruplets with his wife, Amy, and looking forward to any quiet moment.

  • B.A.  Truman State University, Communications with an emphasis in Theatre Arts

 

  • Worked at St. Louis Community College at Meramec in the Theatre Department since August of 1988

 

  • Has acted as a freelance scenic and lighting designer in the St. Louis Area

 

  • Has taught classes in scenic and lighting design and lighting console operation

 

  • As received numerous regional awards through the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in scenic, lighting, and projection design and technical direction

 

  • Was the 2005 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Fellow in Scenic Design

 

  • Received the 2010 KCACTF National Teaching Artist Grant Recipient in Lighting Design
